Montpelier Wants to Use 100% Renewable Energy by 2030
By Joe Gullo
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont's capital city is on it's way to becoming the first net zero capital in the country.
What does that mean? Eliminating fossil fuels and producing more renewable energy.
For example, the city will work with Green Mountain Power to install e-vehicle charging stations. Homeowners could even get incentives to get ready.
"Efficiency measures clearly are cost effective and much cheaper than actually producing or buying new power - so that's the most important thing that individuals can do and that we'll be focusing on." Montpelier Mayor John Hollar said.
By the year 2030, the mayor hopes Montpelier will rely 100% on renewable energy.
