BURLINGTON, Vt. - As thousands of students move in to Burlington this weekend, police are gearing up for another school year.

Between UVM and Champlain College more than three thousand students will move into the Queen City this weekend. Burlington Police say every year from the end of August until May; they see a rise in certain calls such as underage drinking, parking issues, and noise complaints.

"Burlington Police Department and University Police services will be providing extra patrols, foot patrols, bike patrols, joint patrols where we will actually be riding in the same cruiser with UVM officers. And patrolling the neighborhoods within the city of Burlington to ensure that we maintain the quality of life that the residents enjoy each and every day," said Lt. Scott Davidson, with Burlington Police.

Burlington Police Chief Mike Schirling says every year a few different agencies team up to go door to door with fliers to help promote a better quality of life for everyone.
