BURLINGTON, Vt.  - A new Dean will be the first woman to serve the Cathedral Church in Burlington since it organized in 1830.

A press release says Reverend Jeanne Finan has accepted the call to be the Sixth Death and 32 Rector of the congregation.

“I was impressed with the diverse ways the Cathedral weaves the arts into their worship and also their extensive efforts to make a difference in the life of the surrounding community," Rev. Finan said. "Both the Cathedral and Vermont strike me as open and welcoming to all God’s people. Cathedrals have the opportunity to honor the traditions but simultaneously push the boundaries with new, missional work.”

Rev. Finan comes to Burlington from St. John's Episcopal Church in North Carolina.

Rev. Finan began her ministry at the church in March of 2014 and will be officially installed on May 31 at 5 p.m.
