Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger flipped the switch on new on state-of-art electric vehicle charging stations on Wednesday. They're located at the Marketplace and Lakeview garages.
At the Marketplace location, a level three station has the fastest charging time of any commercially-available electric vehicle charger. At Lakeview, two dual-port stations have been installed.
"Burlington is open to business to you and you can come into town, shop here, enjoy all that Burlington has to offer and have your charging services met," Mayor Weinberger said.
Overall the state is helping to fund 13 plug in stations around Vermont. Fueling an electric vehicle comes out to about $1 for a gallon of gas.
