We're just a few days away from Mother's Day. If you haven't bought your mother anything yet, we're here with a Mother's Day preview.

Sally Tipson has gone through 22 Mother's Days as owner of Sally's Flowers in Winooski. And even more years as a mother herself.

But most Mother's Days, she's here, working away.

“It's usually very busy,” said Tipson. “As a matter of fact, it's usually busy enough that I do come in on Mother's Day and work for a few hours."

May is one of her busiest months and Mother's Day is one of the reasons. She has to have her store ready for every kind of holiday planner.

"You've got the pre-planners and the procrastinators," said Tipson.

And Sally may know a thing or two about the rushed buyers,

"Funniest thing that ever happened to me is that I got a card from one of my sons one year and it was a great card. It had all the amenities on the front. 'Mom, you're this you're that you're whatever.' And I opened it up and it said 'I hope you have a really nice birthday.' So he never really read it,” said Tipson.

But that doesn't matter, she says. Sally's just happy to celebrate the holiday with her children and as a florist, spread that love to other mothers. And what better way than flowers and chocolates.

“Mother's Day is definitely one of our more popular holidays,” said Lake Champlain Chocolates’ Meghan Fitzpatrick.

Lake Champlain Chocolates in Burlington is already stocked with Mother's Day goodies.

But new this year are Mother's Day events. On Saturday, Lake Champlain Chocolate's South End Kitchen is holding 2 Mother's Day classes. One is a scone-making class and another called "Kids Cook: Chocolates For Mom."

“It's definitely a different experience,” said Fitzpatrick. “Both classes you can take with your mom or the chocolates on could be a surprise gift for her. You could take it with another parent. But it's all about the experience and really taking part in what you're making and feeling proud of that."

There are still spots for those classes. For more information on how you can sign up, visit
