Police: About 700 Bags of Heroin Found Under Child's Seat

WESTMINSTER, Vt. - During a motor vehicle stop on I-91, Vermont State Police say they found approximately 700 bags of heroin Saturday night.

The bags were found under the rear seat cushion where operator 33-year-old Eugenia Emerson's 5-year-old child was seated.

Police arrested Emerson on charges of trafficking heroin.

Police say they originally stopped Emerson for a marked lane violation and defective equipment. Police issued her a written warning for this violations.

Emerson is due in court in mid-March. She was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
