Vermont State Police are searching for the person who left a dog to die in a storm drain.

Vermont State Police say the dog was put in a trash bag in a culvert at Alta Gardens Mobile Home Park in the Town of Pownal.

A concerned resident told police the dog’s body had been dumped behind a trailer, according to investigators.

The dog was emaciated and showed significant signs of neglect, police said.

Police say the dog is a cream-colored pit-bull, aged between three to five years-old. The dog is missing its right eye. Police say he was wearing a recognizable collar.
