NEWPORT, Vt.- Police say a man is dead after a fight in Newport that happened Saturday afternoon.

Captain JP Sinclair, the Chief Criminal Investigator for Vermont State Police, said 35-year-old Isaac Hunt died after the altercation on Lake Road.

Captain Sinclair says Hunt was found dead in the backyard of a home. Hunt did not live there--he lived in Derby, Vt.

Sinclair said three other people were involved in the altercation, but Vermont State Police is not releasing those names yet.

"Right now we have identified and interviewed all of them, and we're deciphering all those facts, along with what comes out of the autopsy," said Sinclair.

The Orleans County State's Attorney said no charges have been filed yet. Police are waiting on the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Next-door neighbor John Jacobs said he saw people being taken into custody.

"I saw a male being handcuffed and put in the cruiser," Jacobs said. "Also a female, maybe in her 20s or so. It looked like she was being handcuffed and put in the cruiser," he said.

Vermont State Police says there is no danger to the public. ABC22 & FOX44 will keep you updated as we get more information.
