BRISTOL, Vt. - Police responded to an armed robbery at the Big Wheel Variety Store Sunday afternoon.

Police say Joshua Martell, 28, of Bristol, Vt., entered the store with a large knife and demanded money. After being chased by the store owner, Martell ran into the woods.

Police say a K-9 unit located the knife and clothing used in the robbery. An off-duty police officer saw a man crossing a road into the woods and another K-9 unit was used to try to track Martell.

Police say Martell was located approximately 3/4 of a mile into the woods.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Martell is being charged with armed robbery and possession of stolen property.  Police say they found stolen property in his pocket from a recent burglary.
