Police: Two Men Arrested For Trying to Sell Drugs to Undercover Detectives

HARTFORD, Vt. - Two men were arrested on Thursday for trying to sell drugs to undercover plain-clothed detectives.
Police say Thomas Dempsey, 26, of Jersey City, N.J. and Steven Chaput, 24, of Hartford, Vt., are accused of selling $1,200 worth of prescription Percocet pills to the detectives conducting a drug sweep in a business parking lot.
Dempsey and Chaput are charged with sale, possession, and conspiracy to sell narcotics. Both were lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility. Chaput was held in lieu of $5,000 bail and Dempsey was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
