BARRE, Vt. - Barre City Police responded to Brook Street for the report of a burglary at around 5:30 Thursday morning.

Police say when they arrived, they found 33-year-old Mia Boudreau in the brook, bleeding from multiple lacerations. Boudreau was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Police say Boudreau has had recent dealings with law enforcement involving her situation with her child and the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF).

After inquiring the location of Boudreau's 2-year-old child, police say they found the toddler naked, trembling on a couch, alone in her apartment. The toddler was left for approximately five hours.

Police took the child into custody while an officer prepared paperwork to turn the child over to DCF.

Boudreau is charged with burglary and reckless endangerment to a child.
