The council is made up of 30 volunteers, commissioned by Gov. Peter Shumlin to give recommendations on poverty solutions in the state. The volunteers consist of advocates, service providers, housing and development experts, and low-income Vermonters.
The public hearings will be specifically for comments related to the Agency of Human Services and the Department for Children and Families. Several toddlers have died in the state this year who had cases with DCF.
There are three ways to provide comments to the council:
1. Attend a public hearing on August 28 at 6 p.m. or September 5 at 2 p.m.
You can attend at any of the Vermont Interactive Technology sites around the state. There is a site within 30 minutes of any Vermonter.
