Public Meeting to Discuss Berlin Pond Petition Prohibiting Recreational Use
By Joe Gullo
MONTPELIER, Vt. - A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27 to discuss a petition to prohibit recreational use of Berlin Pond.
A press release says the petition would ban recreational activities like fishing, boating, and swimming. Read the petition and supplemental materials.
The petition was presented to the department by the Citizens to Protect Berlin Pond as a request to amend the Vermont Use of Public Waters Rules specific to Berlin Pond. This is a separate petition from the one that was issued last year.
The meeting will be held on the 27th at Berlin Elementary School, 372 Paine Turnpike North, Berlin, VT from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Comments can also be faxed to (802)-828-1544 or e-mailed to Laura.Woods@state.vt.us. The public comment period ends on June 3, 2014.
