The 2004, 2007, and yes, the newest addition to the family, the 2013 Boston Red Sox World Series titles visited Vermont today in Malletts Bay, a treat for local fans.
"It's awesome, it's great to have the Red Sox come and visit you in your home town. Not all teams do this so it's a great thing. Great feeling to be able to see the trophies up close and be a part of the great Red Sox history."
Red Sox Nation also extends beyond New England. These trophies have some miles on them, according to Security Supervisor John McDermott.
"It is out pretty much every day, and maybe three or four places per day. It's made some pretty lengthy visits to Japan, to California, I was with it we went to New York."
Yes, even New York, you don't have to be a Red Sox fan to appreciate the trophy. You can even root for the Yankees. Just like Barbie Couillard. She is a Yankees fan, but her husband Paul, is a member of Red Sox Nation.
"I'm a Yankees fan, but I stand by my man. That's gotta say something. It's a mixed relationship but it works."
As the trophy case expands for the Red Sox. so too do the moments and memories fan create with each title.
"Each year is different. '04 was just magical. A number of people would come with pictures of loved ones who have passed away. The regular, I never thought I'd live to see this. The 2013 is carrying almost as much excitement as the '04 in my eyes because no one expected it. It was a total shock."
