WEATHERSFIELD, Vt. - A serious rollover crash left parts of I-91 northbound closed for hours Saturday.

The accident happened just before 1:15 P.M. in Weathersfield when a Ford F-150, being operated by a 72 year old Connecticut man, swerved into the median. When attempting to correct back onto the road, the truck fishtailed before rolling over several times. The vehicle landed on its wheels in the middle of the highway.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries, according to Vermont State Police. His 70 year old front seat passenger, also from Connecticut, was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with severe injuries. A backseat passenger only suffered minor injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash that left traffic snarled for hours.
