BURLINGTON, VT- The beautiful weather is proving to be a bit of disappointment for teachers, students, and parents from the Sustainability Academy.

Friday Evening to Saturday Dawn, they're camped out under the stars.

All to show support for Spectrum Youth and Family Services.

They want to experience what it's like to be homeless.

But this may be the one time warm weather for camping is not really welcomed.

"If you're going to build empathy and compassion in students, what you want to do is try and re-create as much as possible those conditions. So tonight's going to be mild, and that's not really the conditions a lot of homeless families really experience, sometimes they experience really harsh conditions," said Principal Brian Williams.

The community does have many families living in poverty, and some are homeless.

The principal added this approach to learning is what they are all about.
