Wednesday, FOX44/ABC22 rode along for four deliveries in Milton. CVAA managed to deliver to all 1,000 of their clients during Wednesday's snow storm
"They get a hot meal and some things to go with that hot meal and an extra meal for Thursday," says volunteer Jeanette Adams.
Adams has been a volunteer for nearly twelve years. The agency says most of its clients are ovver 60 years old. Many are not able to move well, or cook for themselves.
"Maybe they can't stand or have dementia, or maybe they just have low income and can't afford to buy food," says CVAA's Sarah Lemnah. "We bring this meal to them and people are smiling and happy and they feel like someone cares about them and their safe."
Lemnah and Adams say client's responses are the best part of what they do.
"Somebody gets up in the morning and gets up and bring you food, you better be appreciative," says CVAA client Mary Burns.
"It helps me out terrifically," says CVAA client Frank Levick. "I don't have much, but what I do have I appreciate."
CVAA serves about 230,000 meals each year in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties.
