BURLINGTON, Vt. - People played out on the water on paddle boards to support a great cause.

Stand Up for the Lake is set to raise $35,000 for The Sailing Center.

The race draws out-of-towners, which is an economic boost.

Paddle boarders even come from out of state, which is a big economic draw for the Burlington area.

"When we have weather like this and a venue like this, I think its great for Burlington. Great for the economic development opportunities for Burlington and a lot of people racing today have never been to Vermont, never

been to Burlington and they are seeing it in this spectacular light," said Russ Scully, Co-founder of Stand Up for the Lake.

Our very own Mike Curkov and Brittney Hibbs took part in the event as part of the Maritime Festival.

75 people registered for Saturday's races; proof the event has become very popular
