STOWE, Vt. - Mixing up the competition with some craft brews.
Sounds unique, but that's exactly what you could expect at Saturday's Stowe Craft Brew Race.
More than 1,000 runners started with a 5k, and finished with some local craft beers at Stoweflake Mountain Resort.
It's one of the largest race-meets-beer festivals in the country.
The event included 50 craft breweries, unlimited sampling and live music.
"A buddy of mine came up from Rhode Island and said that I should run and get some free beer, enjoy myself and have a good time," said Michael Finnefrock, from Williston.
"A lot of food, great beer, great craft beer, a good race. A little challenging one though, hot," said Matt Ruscher, from Providence, RI.
The festival also served as a fundraiser.
A portion of the $5,000 raised on Saturday goes to Stowe Land Trust which is dedicated to the conservation of nature and agriculture in the Stowe community.
