CHARLOTTE, Vt. - How about burning off some calories during a hike, and topping it off afterwards with some great local brew?

People could find all that on Sunday at the first ever Switchback Sunday!

It kicked off at noon at Mount Philo Summit.

Vermont State Parks teamed up with Burlington's Switchback Brewing Company to put this together.

Hikers could snag free two-ounce samples of Switchback ale, or slow fermented brown ale when they finished their hikes for some motivation to reach the top.

"I think a lot of people came for the event, but I think people just coming here to hike at Philo are in for a big surprise. The band you're hearing is Gold Town and they've been awesome. We're always looking to create partnerships with all the local companies and businesses around us," said John Frigault, Mt. Philo Park Ranger.

Organizers said the turnout was huge for the first year.
