Hundreds waited in line Saturday morning to get their hands on nothing more than a case of beer.

Only a beer that commonly tops the world's best beer list could get this kind of attention.

The Alchemist had a pop-up sale in Waterbury Saturday morning.

The makers of the insanely popular "Heady Topper" were selling cases of their rare specialty beers for $75 a pop.

The sale started at 9am and people still traveled from all over to take home a case.

Craig DeMello traveled 2.5 hours from Brentwood, NH, “Because it's beer from the best brewery in the world, probably like my 6th or 7th time this summer. One of the top beer rating sites puts it at number 1 so it's obviously a very good beer."

“I think that any good word that we can bring to the Vermont brewing scene helps everybody,” said co-owner of The Alchemist John Kimmich. “It's a huge compliment. We love it and we're just glad that people like what we make."

Owners John and Jennifer Kimmich have held these pop up sales every 6 weeks since this winter.

We'd tell you the details about the next sale but the Kimmichs are tight-lipped on that information.

If it's released too far in advance, too many people will show up and they'll sell out quickly.

Even still, they go through 500 cases on a day like this.
