Two Dead in Townshend, Vermont Shooting

TOWNSHEND, Vt. - Vermont State Police say two people died in a shooting incident in Townshend.

Police say they someone called 911 asking for help. The dispatcher heard gunshots on the phone, then the call was disconnected.

When police responded to the home on Grafton Road, a man was dead outside from an apparent gunshot wound. A woman was also shot and unresponsive. She was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where she later died.

Police are not identifying the victims until family is notified.

Police say there is no threat to public safety. Autopsies have been ordered in both Vermont and New Hampshire for the victims.
