VERMONT- We're told several fire crews were on scene battling flames at the vacant Flory's motel off of Business Route 4A in Center Rutland.

Officials said the fire started around 4pm Sunday afternoon.

The cause is still unknown.

Witnesses we talked to said the old motel has been empty for decades.

Sunday morning, another fire destroyed a two story home in St. Albans Town.

It happened at 7 Pike Drive.

The homeowner and pet cat were home at the time, but made it out safely.

The entire house is considered a loss.

The Fire Chief tells us the fire likely started from the chimney, and is reminding people to clean and inspect chimneys, especially during the cold months.
