WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Vermont senior Roxanne Douville has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week. The Hockey East Association made the announcement on Monday.
Douville made 18 saves and collected her second shutout of the season as Vermont defeated Dartmouth 1-0 on the road in overtime last Wednesday.
Douville is 5-4-3 this season with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
"What a fitting way to end the semester for Roxanne," said head coach Jim Plumer. "Her game and her confidence has been building since coming back from an early season injury and she has really played well for the last month or so."
The Catamounts were also named the Hockey East Team of the Week following the win at Dartmouth. Vermont is 5-1-3 in its last nine games and is currently on a five-game unbeaten streak.
"The entire team played it's best game of the semester at Dartmouth and hopefully we can all pick up where we left off when we return in January," continued Plumer.
Vermont returns to Gutterson Fieldhouse on the weekend of January 4 as they host Syracuse in a two-game Hockey East series. The Catamounts face the Orange at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
