Commissioner of Vermont Health Access Mark Larson provided an update to the House Health Care Committee.
Larson says about 22,000 Vermonters have confirmed a plan.
He admits besides the website having had issues, so have the call centers meant to answer people's questions. Larson blamed long wait times on lots of callers and calls taking longer than anticipated.
"We have taken additional steps because the staff that were added in December clearly haven't had enough of an effect. So we are adding more staff to our call center and in addition to that creating an overflow capacity," says Larson.
Larson says he hopes that brings down wait times to a reasonable length.
Vermont Health Connect says the staffing level is covered under a contract and it will not require more money.
