Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders took to the floor Monday night to talk about global warming.

More than two-dozen Democratic senators took part in the all night talkathon. It was to raise awareness about climate change.

The senators did not introduce a bill or measure, and that’s why some call it a political stunt. But 26 Democrats and two Independents, including Sanders, insist the night was simply meant to “wake up Congress.”

“Given that reality, I find it extremely disturbing that virtually all of my Republican colleagues continue to ignore the scientific evidence and refuse to support legislation which will address this planetary crisis,” Sanders said.
