Vermont has two official bear hunting seasons. The "early" season stretches from Labor Day until November 14. The late season runs from November 15 to the 23.
Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says the hunting season helps manage the bear population in in the state, which is now estimated at around 6,000.
Hunters took 556 bears last year in the state.
Just a reminder, early bear hunting season requires a special bear tag.
