MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Vermont Board of Education is throwing support behind a bill that would consolidate school districts.

Chair Stephan Morse is calling it the most important piece of educational legislation in some time.

The board says under the consolidation plan all Vermont students would receive equal opportunities to thrive in school.

Right now, there are about 60 school districts in Vermont.
