MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Vermont Consumer Protection case against MPHJ Technology will move forward.

Attorney General William Sorrell filed a lawsuit against the company last May. Sorrell alleges MPHJ, claiming to have a patent on the process of scanning documents and attaching them to emails, sent deceptive letters to businesses and non-profits throughout Vermont demanding payment for patent infringement.

Repeated attempts by MPHJ to get the case dismissed at the federal level were denied.
