Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin will sign a bill Thursday that bans the use of hand-held cellphones and other electronic devices while driving.

Shumlin (D-Vt.), who originally did not support the bill, is expected to sign it at a VTrans maintenance garage in Colchester at 10 a.m.

The law takes effect on October 1.
