BURLINGTON, Vt.  - The Vermont Health Department is seeking public comment on two proposed rules.

The Health Department says one rule is the Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT) for Sexually Transmitted Disease Rule which would allow health care providers to prescribe medication to a partner of a patient diagnosed with chlamydia or gonorrhea. The prescription could be made without examining the partner and help prevent the spread of the disease. More information on this proposed rule.

The other proposed rule is the Maternal Mortality Review Panel Rule which would define procedures for gathering and reporting maternal death information. The panel would review any death of a woman who dies within the first year of her pregnancy. More information on the proposed rule.

The deadline for public comment is May 15, 2014. The public can send comments to the following email address: Please send comments to AHS.VDHRules@state.vt.us.
