MONTPELIER, Vt. - The GMO bill isn't even law, but lawmakers are still worried about the possibility of a lawsuit from Monsanto.

In front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday, experts talked about whether the bill would stand a court challenge.

Supporters say Vermont has legitimate legal reasons to label food products. Opponents say there are already ways people can check for GMOs without labels.

Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell says if the state were to get sued and lost, it would cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
