VT Officials Warning Over Jury Duty Telephone Scam

MONTPELIER, Vt.  - Vermont officials are warning the Chittenden County residents over a jury duty telephone scam.

The Vermont Attorney General's Office says that someone claiming to be from the Sheriff's Office or from the Chittenden Court House claiming that the person missed jury duty and a warrant is out for their arrest. The individual is also asked to pay a several hundred dollar fine via a prepaid money card or face arrest.

The telephone scam is coming from outside the state of Vermont. Residents in Rutland County have also reported getting similar calls in March 2014.

Anyone who has received this call should not send any money.
