SAINT ALBANS. Vt. - Every soldier deserves a hero's welcome, that was the message on Sunday at the American Legion Green Mountain Post.

The American Legion decided to host a day of thanks to those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The patriotic event welcomed military servicemen, women, and their families.

Saint Albans Mayor Liz Gamache, along with Senator Sanders showed their support to simply say 'thank you' and 'welcome home.'

"We don't do enough for our veterans, for what they do for us, we hear the news, but to be up there in a field, and be shot at, and sometimes coming home disabled, we don't realize

how lucky we are sometimes to have the people who have served their country," said Jay Bushey, at the event.

Major General Steven Cray, Vermont's Adjutant General, gave a special speech to the crowd as well.
