Williston Considering Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
By Joe Gullo
WILLISTON, Vt. - Williston residents are planning to sound off on proposed by-law changes Tuesday night. It has to do with allowing medical marijuana dispensaries.
The planning commission already approved a change. It says a dispensary would only be okay in Williston's industrial zone, which is out of residential areas. By definition that's much more than 2,000 feet away from any school.
The Williston Selectboard will take final action.
The town manager says Williston's police chief has already raised an issue.
"This is still an activity that is not permitted under federal law, so he had some concerns about that in terms of potential enforcement," Rick McGuire, Williston Town Manager, said.
The McGuire said there wasn't much comment in the planning phase. The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Williston Town Hall.
