VSP: Toddler in Critical Condition; Found Unresponsive at a Pool

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. - Vermont State Police say a toddler is in critical condition at the University of Vermont Medical Center, after he was found unresponsive in a family pool.

This happened at a residence in East Montpelier, just after 11 Wednesday morning.

Police say first responders provided life-saving measures to the two-and-a half year old child.

The boy was initially transported to UVM Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center, where crews were able to establish a heart beat.  Once he was stabilized, he was transported to Burlington.

Police say the toddler is in the custody of the Vermont Department for Children and Families, and was in the care of a foster family at the time.  DCF is assisting in the investigation.
