Weather: Father's Day Weekend - Hot & Humid (6/16/2017)

Friday, at times, was a miserable weather day! The wind was coming down hard and the wind was howling! Away from mountain summits, the wind was the strongest near the shore of Lake Champlain with many sites recording gusts near 40mph! The rainiest part of the day was the morning with drying and partial clearing by the afternoon.

Friday night, most showers are done and there shouldn't be any big weather issues for Friday night plans. Meanwhile, lows in the 60s by Saturday will be warm and little muggy. Saturday & Sunday will be summery weather days. Expect quiet mornings with spotty afternoon thunderstorms. Severe weather doesn't look to be an issue on Saturday but a few run of the mill storms may try to put down heavy rain, small hail and lightning. Most of us will have a rain free Saturday.

Sunday we have a better chance at storms, especially later in the evening. A line of storms will get organized and be near the St. Lawrence Valley between 4-7pm. Anywhere in that line could be damaging wind, heavy rain and lightning. The storms will then move east toward western Vermont during the rest of the afternoon and evening. It's very likely storms will weaken below severe limits by the time they get to Vermont around or after sunset but it's a situation we're watching closely. Meanwhile before the storms get here Sunday, it'll be hot! We'll all be sweatin' to the 80s with a shot at 90° on Sunday!

Monday is our next best shot at  rain and widespread thunderstorms. It's a little early for exact details but the set up continues to trend for a few strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. Tuesday through Friday we cool things off but keep a chance of showers.

Oh and since i've reminded you everyday this week....the summer solstice is Wednesday at 12:24 am! Sunrise is at 5:08am and it will set at 8:41pm! From there our days get shorter but before you panic...we're only losing seconds per day until July 6th!
