Weather: Quiet Start to the Week (8/14 AM)

Amanda's Forecast Discussion

Good morning!

Surface high pressure building in for Monday provides a quiet, warm start to the work week. High level clouds that streamed in after midnight kept a lot of overnight valley fog development at bay. It's a mostly sunny day with a top temp in the low 80s and a light south breeze. Tonight, partly cloudy. Low 60s to upper 50s.

Tuesday, an upper level trough amplifies to our north over eastern Canada. There will be more clouds overhead, making for a partly sunny day, with a spattering of showers. A weak thunderstorm or two is possible during the afternoon, but many will escape the day dry. Low 80s.

Wednesday and Thursday, quiet weather and high pressure returns. It's mostly sunny and a tad cooler, mid to upper 70s. The wettest day of the week looks like Friday. More clouds than sun there with rain chances kicking off Thursday night. As far as the weekend goes, we may see some showers stick around into Saturday and Sunday, but there's a large margin of uncertainty at this point.

Quick check on the Tropics...We have Tropical Storm Gert in the Atlantic well offshore from Florida. Gert will intensify to a Category 1 Hurricane Wednesday, after passing about midway between the U.S. and Bermuda Tuesday. With a northeasterly turn, Gert remains a fish storm. There will be no impact to land.

Have a fantastic day!
