Weather: Showers and Isolated Storms to Kick Off the Week (7/9/17)

Torrance's Forecast Discussion

Torrance's Forecast: - Hello everyone, I hope that you were able to enjoy the weather today! Lower humidity and more sunshine sure was welcomed after Saturday's severe weather. As Sunday afternoon transitions to evening clouds will continue to fill in across northern New York and Vermont as weak front approaches from southern Quebec. While there isn't a lot of moisture with this a few spot showers are likely as we go deeper into the overnight. Sunday night's lows will drop to either side of 60 degrees, which is right on par for this time of year. Across southern Vermont and New Hampshire clouds will be no where to be found, that will allow for some cooler temperatures in the middle 50s tonight, and to start off Monday morning.

Monday across New York's North County and northern Vermont clouds will go from partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Rain doesn't look to be intense like Saturday, which is good news. During the early afternoon a rumble of thunder is possible, but we have no threat for severe weather. Daytime highs will reach between upper 70s and low 80s. Heading into Tuesday we are going to notice more humidity thanks to rising dewpoint into the high 60s. This will help to fuel potential storms, the Storm Prediction Center has us under a marginal risk for severe weather. What does that exactly mean? Marginal risk means we have the potential for a couple strong to severe storms that could produce wind speeds up to 60mph, along with 1" hail.

Wednesday we are taking a break from the rain and storms, and should see a mix of sun and clouds with highs near 80 degrees. The second half of the week has more rain, with just a few chances on Thursday. Otherwise we should expect more clouds than sun Thursday afternoon with highs in the upper 70s. Friday models are indicating another round of heavy showers by late Friday morning and lingering into the evening hours. Good news is we should wrap the rain up by late Friday, with daytime highs in the upper 70s. The first look and thoughts on next weekend is more dry weather with a mix of sun and clouds and highs near the low 80s.

Have a great week!
