Weather: Still Soggy, Sunny Soon (6/5/2017)

Well, it was another Monday that felt like a Monday thanks to the weather. We've been socked in with clouds all day with rain becoming more widespread through the afternoon. There has been some thunder but most of it has been south and west of us. Before midnight, a thunderstorm or two is possible in western Vermont & eastern New York but most of us should just see plain rain. Meanwhile, highs only nudged into the 50s & low 60s. Tonight, lows fall into the low 50s.

Rain sticks with us during the morning, some of it may come down a bit heavy; careful of deep puddles. Clouds will stay stubborn while rain continues off and on through the evening drive. As a result, temperatures won't budge much, our highs will be in the 50s with some getting close to 60°. Remember, our average high is closer to 74°. Fun fact, the coldest the high has ever been in Burlington on June 6 is 55°. Tuesday's high will be really close, not the kind of record we want to be setting in June. Rain will gradually wrap up Tuesday night and early Wednesday. We're looking at about .50-1" through 7am Wednesday. However, some in central & southern Vermont & New Hampshire could close to 2". That much rain will cause creeks and streams to run fast and high. I don't think it'll be enough to be a huge deal but some minor flooding is possible.

We finally get out of this dreary funk Wednesday and Thursday. Both days will be at least partly sunny with highs in the upper 60s & low to mid 70s. Friday, yet another storm rides up the northeast coast and gives us another round of showers and isolated thunderstorms. The good news is highs don't take a big hit, we'll still make it into the mid 70s.

Over the weekend, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible, especially Saturday. Highs keep getting warmer into the 70s & low 80s. A ridge of high pressure gradually takes over Sunday & Monday leading to mainly dry but hot days. Highs Monday may get to 90°.

Heat lovers, have a bit more patience!
