Weather: Wet to Start the Weekend, But Improving Conditions (4/21/17)

Torrance's Forecast Discussion

Torrance's Forecast: - Good morning folks, I am SkyTracker Meteorologist Torrance Gaucher, Meteorologist Amanda Lindquist has this morning off. A really wet and raw start to our weekend, an area of low pressure is providing us with another slug of moisture. Rain will fall at a moderate to sometimes heavy rate, reducing visibility, and creating small pools of water on the street. Do travel carefully and watch out for for patches of morning fog. The center of the low will slide off to the east today, but we are left with lingering showers into the early part of the weekend. Good news, we are going to see much drier conditions, and yes sunshine. Our weather will remain quiet from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday morning. From Tuesday afternoon and on, we are seeing another active pattern that brings back more scattered showers to the forecast. Some good news, it also comes with warmer temperatures.

This Afternoon: Area of low pressure continues to slide off to the east, and trailing behind it a cold front will continue to provide the region with scattered showers. Can't rule out an isolated weak thunderstorm, with the primary threat of gusty winds and lightning. Otherwise, rain will taper off into the evening hours. Daytime high will be cooler, only reaching the low 50s. Gusty winds as well are expected today, sustained from the southeast 10-20mph, and gusts 25-30mph.

Friday Night: Scattered showers will becoming isolated, with a few areas of patchy fog. The flooding threat will be minimal with the highest concern being Lake Champlain to reach flood stage once again. Overnight lows fall to the low 40s. Diminishing winds, southeast 5mph.

Saturday: Clouds will be stubborn to clear, expecting partly to mostly cloudy. A few isolated showers may linger, especially into the higher elevated communities and mountains. Cooler afternoon high temperatures as a result of the damp weather, high low 50s. Wind: Northwest 5mph.

Sunday: Finally a bit of relief from the spring blues, clouds slowly clear allowing for partly sunny skies. Along with seeing a bit or more sunshine, temperatures will bump to the upper 50s and low 60s. Wind: Southwest 5mph.

Early next week starts off quiet, but more active weather is just around the corner with more scattered showers from Tuesday, and on. On the flip side, temperatures will continue to climb up in the 60s during the course of the week.

Have a great start to the weekend!
