Bulla's flawless transition between the two sports makes him this week's Fox 44/ABC 22 HS Athlete of the Week.
"Well it's definitely a hard transition," said Bulla of the switch from football to hockey. "A lot of different muscles that you're using for hockey. Definitely during the start of the season you notice your legs are getting tired after the periods."
But Bulla has made the transition look easy. The Redhawks are undefeated on the year, including a big win over defending state champion South Burlington. Head coach Mike Murray credits Bulla as the guy who has held the team together.
"He's the glue I call him if he wasn't here I don't know if the rest would go so well. Well I think he's calm with the puck." Head coach Mike Murray said. "He finds the outlet that he needs to get the play flowing with. He certainly doesn't have a shot to the net I guess. We saw him get a breakaway and he hit them right in the chest."
But Bulla is a leader; the general on the ice.
"Alex is a steady influence." Murray said. "He's a real responsible kid, communicates really well."
"It's just my job to keep our guys contained," said Bulla. "Keep their heads in the game. I just continue to remind the guys, keep your heads in it. We're playing well. We're playing well. Stay poostiive and keep working hard."
