Mountain Top Resort, VT -- After Tuesday's nordic skiing state championships, Woodstock's Carmen Bango walked away with an individual title and a team state championship in Division 2. Add another achievement, she's this week's FOX 44/ABC 22 Athlete of the Week.

"I'm really excited and I'm so proud of my whole team." Bango said after the race. "We've worked really hard to get here. It's just been an amazing year and I'm so proud."

Ski season isn't over just yet for Carmen. Soon she'll appear on the national scene.

"I've qualified for nationals this year which is was really exciting." she said. "I'm excited to see how that goes. I hope to keep on the same track."

Joining the Woodstock sophomore there is fellow Wasp Zane Fields, who also won an individual title in the boys' race.

"Carmen's just going to keep going." Fields said of his teammate. "Her form just keeps getting better and she's already got the athletic ability beyond anyone I've seen before so I think she can really make it."

Perhaps the biggest compliments for Carmen are the comparisons to one of VT's best athletes, CVU senior Autumn Eastman.

"She can do many things. She's only a sophomore." Eastman said. "There's definitely going to be comparisons for sure and we'll see what she can do."
