"Back and forth. Back and forth." Thetford junior and FOX 44/ABC 22 Co-Athlete of the Week Michael Pomeroy said. "Williamstown's an amazing team. We knew that it was going to be like this and we just had to outhustle them and outplay them."
Thetford junior Michaela Pomeroy and senior Shyann Josler hustled and played their way to a celebration on the Barre Auditorium floor and they are this week's co-athlete's of the week.
"They're a great tandem of guards." said head coach Eric Ward. "I think they're one of the best tandem of guards in the state and it was nice for them to be able to show it on the big stage."
The Panthers plan to beat the Blue Devils' press usually started with Josler and ended with Pomeroy. Over and over again. Scoring 90 points, the second highest total in title game history, the teams' combined 174 points is a state record.
"Her speed is awesome." Josler said of Pomeroy. "We have to use that as much as we can and her defense definitely. Between her and Tar we have awesome defenders."
"Shyann is the rock to the team. She holds us all together. She knows how to calm us down when we're upset." countered Michaela.
And Shyann was the first person Michaela found to celebrate their state championship.
"She's like a really good pal to me." Pomeroy said after receiving the trophy and cutting down the nets at the Barre Auditorium. "Me and her have been working good together. She works good with everybody on the team. Me and her have a really close connection. We play all sports together. We're close friends."
Such close friends they share a state title and our athlete of the week award.
