UVM Men's Basketball Announces Signees for 2017-18

BURLINGTON, Vt. - This season, four new players will be added to the UVM Men's Basketball roster.  On Saturday, the Catamounts officially announce the recruiting class for the 2017-2018 campaign.

The headliner is a giant.  6'9" forward Ra Kpedi from Indianapolis becomes the fourth Hoosier State representative on next year's Catamount squad.  In high school he averaged a double-double and was a perennial all-star.

The next player to keep an eye on is cancer survivor Skyler Nash.  The Chicago native comes to Vermont by way of Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine.  He turned down an offer to stay in-state and play with the Maine Black Blears.  Albany was also after  the highly touted guard.

A newcomer with local connections is Bailey Patella.  A Massachusetts native, he attended prep school at Vermont Academy.  Coach John Becker describes him as a cross between Dre Wills and Kurt Steidl.

Finally, the Canadian Stef Smith comes from Toronto.  He played at Bill Crothers Secondary, the same school that Trae Bell-Haynes attended.  Last summer he played for Team Canada in the FIBA U17 World Championships.
