UVM men's lacrosse to face Stony Brook in AE Tournament

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont men's lacrosse earned the #3 seed in the America East tournament, so the Catamounts will take on #2 Stony Brook on Thursday.

Albany finished with the top seed while UMass Lowell checked in at the four spot.

Only four teams make the tournament, so UVM will move on to the championship game if the Cats beat Stony Brook.

The Catamounts told Local 22/44 Tuesday they are especially excited to take on the Seawolves due to their recent history with the team.

Stony Brook edged out an 8-7 double overtime win over Vermont earlier in the season, being one of only three teams to get a win over UVM this season.

Additionally, Vermont and Stony Brook met in the America East semifinals in the 2016 tournament. In that meeting, Stony Brook also finished with a close 10-9 victory over the Catamounts.

UVM opens the tournament against Stony Brook in Albany on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
