11.30.13 Source of Boom Discovered

Many heard a loud boom earlier in the week. We now know what that mysterious boom was.
Many across Northern New York, Northern Vermont, and Southern Quebec reported hearing a loud boom Tuesday night around 8 PM. For days the source of that noise was unknown, but now Canadian researchers say they have the answer: a meteoroid.

Researchers from the University of Western Ontario say the noise began as a meteoroid, likely no bigger than a basketball, entered Earth's atmosphere. A meteoroid is basically a rocky object traveling through outer space.

According to a CBC report, those researchers say no fragments of the meteor have been discovered...yet. They're also checking cameras from around the area to see if anything was captured on tape.

The researchers, according to the CBC, believe the meteor passed over Montreal traveling north to south.
