1.17.14 Snow for MLK Weekend

Snowfall so far this season is below average, but a few inches are likely in spots during MLK weekend.
Just in time for skiers and riders looking to enjoy the long Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, a few batches of snow are set to move in.

Light snow will overspread the area from south to north during Saturday morning. By midday and into the afternoon most places will see occasional light snow. It will be steadiest and heaviest in Eastern Vermont and New Hampshire. By Saturday night expect a dusting-2" in much of Northern New York, the Champlain Valley, and Western Vermont. A total of 2-4" will fall in Eastern Vermont and New Hampshire. Most of the mountains will see 2-4" as well, with a few isolated 6" totals in the Central Greens and in the Whites.

Sunday morning will be quiet, but more snow showers crop up late day into the evening. Those snow showers, which will eventually bring in colder air for next week, will deliver a dusting-2".

This snow will get us closer to seasonal averages. So far this season Burlington has picked up 27.9", that's below the average of 30.9" for this time of winter. Last year to this point we'd seen 42".
