9.22.13 Checking in on Foliage

As we enter late September, a brief review of where the foliage stands so far.
Happy Fall! Autumn officially began at 4:44 PM Sunday. And right on schedule, the leaves are starting to turn!

Right now the best color is confined to the higher terrain in the Adirondacks, Green Mountains, and White Mountains. Moderate color is slipping into parts of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, as well as portions of Western New Hampshire.

Meanwhile most other locations, including the Champlain Valley, are showing just the first signs of color.

Much like last week, this upcoming week of weather will help to pull out even more color. Lots of sunshine is in our future, with pleasant afternoons (highs mostly in the 50s and 60s) and cool mornings (lows mostly in the 30s and 40s).

Keep sharing your foliage pictures, we love seeing them!
