Missing Sunderland, VT Boy Found

Vermont State Police say a 12-year-old boy was found alive and well after earlier issuing an AMBER Alert for him.

SUNDERLAND, Vt. - Vermont State Police say a 12-year-old boy was found alive and well after earlier issuing an AMBER Alert for him.

12:06AM UPDATE: Lee was located at a hotel in Lyme, NH. At approx. 10:30 pm, reports were received indicating Lee was seen in the company of his mother, Patricia Kane, and his sister, Martha Lee, age 17 at a restaurant in Hanover.  Kane will be held for questioning.  Charges may be forthcoming.

The AMBER Alert at one point was expanded to New York.

Police say they have been concerned that Kane, 49, may take off with Lee. While they were recently living in France, police say there was a history of Kane trying to take Lee while he was in the care of the French government.

Police say Kane had been unstable since her son arrived in the U.S. They say that had been noticed by law enforcement and the Vermont Department of Children of Families. Police say safe-guards had been put in place to prevent Lee from being taken.

This was the second time an AMBER Alert was issued in the state of Vermont.

Police say both children were placed in protective custody and turned over to Vermont social workers.

Kane will be arraigned Tuesday.
